Silverado Bench Vineyard

Just off the Silverado Trail in Southern Napa, William Hill Estate's 200 acre property lies on the stunning Silverado Bench. Variations in elevation and sun exposure create numerous microclimates in the vineyard.
Benchlands are gentle slopes that rise from the valley floor due to millennia of geologic activity. Unlike the rich, sandy loam soil that dominates the Napa Valley floor, benchland soils tend to be rocky, thin, and nutrient deprived which makes it difficult for the grapevine’s roots to penetrate deep within the soil. The stressed vines produce smaller berries of intense flavor and color concentration. The resulting wines are exceptionally balanced with intense fruit character and refined acidity.
